Chapter 2:

Charms

Make the most of your environment by knowing which relief features there are near you and where they are.

Dear students. I'm Filius Flitwick, professor and Charms Master. This year we will do some field trips to practice some charms in water and mountains. We have to plan where to go and what to do. Would you help me identify the relief features in the Península Ibérica and the rivers and choose our destination? Thank you!

The first field trip aims to practice the charms "Ascendio" and "Descendio" and the "Bubble-Head Charm".

  • Ascendio: it lifts you high into the air or propel you to the surface if you are underwater.

  • Descendo: it causes something to descend or lower itself.

  • Bubble-Head Charm: it causes a protective bubble that may allow for underwater exploration.

TASK 1: look for 20 places where you can practice them and place them in a map for Professor Flitwick.

Then, choose the place you will prefer to visit among the ones you have placed in the map.  Look for information and prepare a short paper where you explain:

  • What place have you chosen?

  • Why have you chosen it? Why would you like to go there?

  • What kind of activities can you do there? (Apart from practising the spells)

  • How can you get there with your class? Plan the trip!

You'll get 20 poings by completing this task.

The second field trip aims to practice "Bombarda" charm, "Carpe retractum" charm and "Lumos" .

  • Bombarda: it provoke small explosions

  • Lumos: it creates a narrow beam of light that shines from the wand's tip, like a torch.

  • Carpe Retractum:  it creates a retractable, magical rope made of light. You can use it to pull objects towards you or to pull yourself towards something.
