Chapter 8:
Electricity
Not everything can be magical and Hogwarts needs
a little bit of muggle electricity.
Dear students. The Dark Lord is becoming more and more powerful and his followers are getting ready to attack us.
We think they want to surround Hogwarts and nullify the spells we use to protect the castle and to have light. We want to prepare a room with muggle electricity to be ready in case the Deatheaters get to Hogwarts. Can you tell us all we need to know about light and electricity without magic?

TASK 1: Take notes in your notebook answering these questions:
-
What is the composition of light? Draw and colour it.
-
Which are the properties of light? Represent them with arrows.
-
How can objects be depending on how much light passes through them? Write some examples.

TASK 2: Prepare a video to explain reflection and refraction of light. Make sure your explanation answers these questions:
-
What is reflection?
-
Why do we see colours in objects? Give some examples.
-
What is refraction? Show it.
TASK 3: Take notes in your notebook answering these questions:
-
How do electrical charges interact? Draw it.
-
What is an electric current? What materials allow electricity to flow and which don't? Draw it and give examples of each type of material.
-
Make a list of situations in which you use electricity.
TASK 4: Include in a mindmap the most important ideas of light and electricity you have learnt. Then, learn how to build a simple electric circuit with a bulb and draw a diagram to explain its components.
EXTRA TASK: Create a poster in a DinA4 piece of paper or in your iPad to aware people of the importance of being safe around electricity.
